MINIMALIST SKINCARE ROUTINE
Pressed for time, or just don’t have patience for lots of steps in your routine? Many of you have asked me for a pared-down skincare routine. So here are the basics for better skin:
☀️ IN THE MORNING:
#1. WASH your face (if you’ve used a heavier or creamy or Rx products) or SPLASH with water (if you’ve used a light serum or skin is very dry). Do this in the shower to save time.
#2. Apply a VITAMIN C SERUM which is an antioxidant shield that helps protect against free radicals that break down your skin’s collagen.
#3. Then MOISTURIZE if and where you feel dry. If you’re oily or acne-prone, like me, you may only need moisturizer on dry patches.
#4 Then SPF – better yet, find a moisturizer with SPF to save a step.
🌙 AT NIGHT:
#1. WASH your face as soon as you get home to remove grime, bacteria/viruses, pollution and other particles that have collected on your skin.
#2. Apply TREATMENT:
⭐️ For COLLAGEN – Use RETINOL/RETINOID. Try Retinol, such as RoC Retinol Correxion, if just starting out. Or move up to Avene RetrinAl which I carry in my office. Many patients eventually graduate to Rx tretinoin.
⭐️ For BRIGHTENING – Try TRANEXAMIC ACID (found in Cyspera) OR NIACINAMIDE (found in The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide; or Paula’s Choice 20% Niacinamide).
⭐️ For BREAKOUTS – Benzoyl peroxide (such as La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo)/Salicylic Acid (CeraVe Salicylic acid cream or Burts Bees Natural Acne Solutions /Sulfur Sulfacetamide (a Rx I give to patients with sensitive skin)
#3. MOISTURIZE if and where you’re dry (Can be used undereyes)
#4. 1-3 times a week, EXFOLIATE.
