ADVICE FROM MY 90 YEAR OLD FATHER

I’m driving down to see my Dad for Father’s Day and to celebrate his 90th Birthday 🎂🎈! Here are 3 Life Lessons from my Dad:

#1. “THE WORLD IS WAITING”. Growing up, my sisters & I could never sleep in because early in the morning he’d throw open the shades, clap loudly in our ears and say: “The world is waiting, girls! You have things to do and people to see. You can’t just lie around all day!”

He definitely instilled in us his entrepreneurial work ethic.

#2. He always said: Jessica, “YOU MUST ALWAYS BE PRESENTABLE”. I wasn’t allowed to be sloppy in my attire or my speech growing up. (I once got in trouble for saying “gosh.”)

He said, especially as immigrants, like it or not, right or wrong, people will judge you based on how you present yourself. So if you want to be taken in a certain way, you must present yourself in a certain way.

#3. “LOOK, HOW BEAUTIFUL”. He was a math professor, engineer, real estate developer, but also a painter.

He’d stop to admire a flower 🌷 or to paint the sunset 🎨🌅. My favorite Father-Daughter activity was when he’d take me to the museum. I definitely got my love of art from him.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all of you Fathers, Father-figures, Granddads, & Fur Dads!
