EMBRACE YOUR FISH TAILS
I’ve always thought “crow’s feet” was a terrible name for the creases around our eyes.
After all, we get them from smiling, which is a happy thing, so why compare them to bird’s feet?
The term was first used in an unflattering way in the 14th century in the Chaucer poem “Troilus and Cressida” to describe an older woman (of course — not a man!).
I think it’s time to rename these smile crinkles, which is why I avoid using the term “crow’s feet” & often call them “fish tails” instead. This is what they’re called in Asia, where fish are a sign of good fortune.
By the way, I’m all for softening them; I do this for patients every day, and on myself. But my goal is usually not to erase what we’ve earned — just soften the edges.
Cheers to our fish tails! 🥂
