DOES YOUR BOTOX STING MORE THAN USUAL?
Botox comes in a powder that I mix fresh every day. I typically go through 10-15 vials a day.
For the past 26 years that I’ve been doing Botox on patients (and myself), I’ve used a type of saline called “Bacteriostatic Saline.” This version contains a preservative called Benzyl Alcohol that has an anesthetic effect, so it would sting less.
Recently, due to supply chain issues, we only have “Preservative-Free Saline,” which stings more.
Here’s how to REDUCE THE STING:
✅ Ask your doctor for ICE PACKS and apply for a few seconds before your treatment.
✅ Sometimes I offer my patients LIDOCAINE anesthetic which can be mixed with Botox to lessen discomfort.
✅ Just be sure to ask your Doctor for the kind without epinephrine so it won’t make your heart race.
