DO TANNING GUMMIES WORK?
⭐️ Typically they contain Beta-carotene, a type of vitamin A that gives yellow, orange, and red fruits & veggies their pigment.
⭐️ While they promise to give you a “natural tan,” in reality they simply stain your skin orange. You could get the same effect by eating carrots or drinking carrot juice.
✅ Studies show that beta carotene in low doses (or found in food) can help protect from UV damage and sunburn. BUT...
☠️ High doses of synthetic beta carotene are associated with liver toxicity — as well as lung cancer in those who smoke.
⭐️ My conclusion: skip the tanning gummies and try a topical self-tanner instead. (Will share my favorites in an upcoming Reel!)
