BUSTING BOTOX MYTHS

Wondering what you should do/NOT do after Botox?

I’ve been doing Botox on myself and my patients since 1996. Since then, I keep hearing these 3 biggest MYTHS about Botox:

❌ BOTOX MYTH #1: “Don’t lie down 🛏️; Don’t look down 👀/ Don’t go shoe shopping 👠” (Yes, someone was told not to do this 🤷🏼‍♀️)

Not sure where these came from – definitely NOT science. Maybe someone thought that Botox could drip down your forehead into your eyelids, giving you a droopy eyelid.
(HINT: It won’t if injected SLOWLY & CAREFULLY in the correct locations.)

If that were true, shouldn’t you just stand on your head 🤸‍♀️?? Makes no sense to me.

Instead, I tell my patients that they are fine to lie down, shoe shop, and move their faces normally after Botox – haven’t had a droopy eyelid yet. (I also inject very SLOWLY to be safe.)

❌ BOTOX MYTH #2:  “Don’t fly ✈️ or get a facial 🧖‍♀️ for days or weeks after your treatment.”

There is a theory that Botox could circulate for days. HOWEVER, the current consensus, based on many studies, is that the protein is completely taken up by the muscle within 4 HOURS.

So I tell my patients to just AVOID RUBBING the treated areas, washing their faces, or getting a facial for 4 hours.

❌ BOTOX MYTH #3: “You should ICE 🧊 after Botox.”

In fact, studies show that COLD temperature REDUCES the amount of Botox that gets into the muscle. So your Botox may NOT work as well if you ice the area. (I only use ice for a few seconds if there’s bleeding.)
