Although commonly called “age spots” or “liver spots,” they have nothing to do with your age or liver, and more to do with past UV radiation exposure. It’s the radiation that causes discoloration, spots, and uneven, rough patches.

After all, the skin on your underboobs, underarms, and your butt is the same AGE as the skin with the spots — but those sun-protected areas are soft, smooth, and not spotty.
