Books I'm Reading Now

BOOK WORM. Growing up, I was painfully shy, so books were my best friends. I’ve since (mostly) outgrown my shyness, but I still love to read, preferably hardcover books. While convenient, a Kindle just doesn’t tickle my senses in the same way: The crack you hear when you open a book for the first time; the smell of the paper; turning the pages then flipping back to re-read a special passage.
Here’s what I’m reading now:
👉🏼 THE COMFORT CRISIS by Michael Easter. I finished this in three nights and it’s been truly life-changing. Do you want to get physically, mentally, & emotionally stronger? Then you must read this book. The author examines cultures in history and around to world to explain why we must embrace discomfort. Now I only eat when hungry, try not to turn on the A/C, and walk up the hill behind my house most days. Also highly recommend watching his Youtube videos.
👉🏼 PAPER PALACE by Miranda Cowley Heller. This is a family drama set in Cape Cod. I picked it up because I miss summer nights on the Cape, and I wanted a juicy end-of-summer read. It’s about childhood sweethearts, the choices we make, and paths not taken, told across different timelines. Warning: some spicy parts and difficult scenes.
👉🏼 BREATH: THE NEW SCIENCE OF A LOST ART by James Nestor. A stern Russian massage therapist once scolded me for not breathing correctly during his session: “How can you be alive, you don’t even know how to breathe!” I was insulted, but now I realize he had a point. This book explains why breathing right helps you sleep better, run faster, & live longer. In a nutshell: Breathe slower; through your nose; inhale 5.5 seconds/exhale 5.5 seconds. To get started, try the Breathe App or The Breathing App.
