Trader Joe's Beauty Picks

I love walking the aisles of Trader Joe’s, looking at the dizzying array of snacks and reasonable facsimiles of Asian comfort food (while trying my best to resist putting them in my cart).

Now I have a new reason to visit: the beauty aisle. Some of the products are boringly basic (coconut oil boby butter -- cheaper to just buy a tub of coconut oil!). But some are well-formulated & very reasonably priced. Here’s what I found on my last visit:

👍🏼 RETINOL NIGHT SERUM. This contains two different retinoids: 0.3% retinol and retinyl palmitate. Not as strong as a Rx-strength retinoid that I’d prescribe to my patients in the office, but a good start for retinoid newbies and those with sensitive skin. It comes in an opaque container with a pump, to keep the retinol fresh. ($9.99)

👍🏼 LEMONGRASS COCONUT BODY OIL. Smells delicious & made with 100% natural oils: Coconut, sweet almond, and jojoba oils. If your skin is very dry or if you want to make your fake tan last longer, an oil may work better than a runny lotion. ($3.99)

👍🏼 HONEY MANGO MOISTURIZING SHAVE CREAM. Contains Glycerin, Aloe, and Vitamin E to lift and soften hairs and help prevent cuts and nicks. Use it on legs, underarms, bikini, beard, or any other hairy bits that need shaving.
